In a unique twist of events, Activision is pulling support for its mobile version of the popular Call of Duty live-service title Warzone. The game, which has barely been out for a year, failed to meet "expectations," according to the company.
In a statement released on social media, it was noted that, moving forward, new seasonal content and gameplay updates will no longer be pushed to the mobile title. Additionally, in-game currency purchases (COD Points and Black Cell) will be disabled.
Come Sunday, May 18, the game will be pulled entirely from Google's Play Store and Apple's iOS storefront, though those who've already downloaded the game will be able to play it still.

As Insider Gaming noted in its report, the game, particularly at launch, was a major money-maker for Activision. Before the game even appeared on digital storefronts, it managed to take in 45 million sign-ups. For reference, 1.3 million people were attempting to sign up for Battlefield's community playtest initiative, Battlefield Labs.
Then, when the game did launch, it managed to rake in $1.6 million in revenue...
