Konami has announced that the gaming juggernaut is establishing a new branch of the company, planned to center entirely around the developer's arcade games. Since the Japanese video game company was first founded in the late 1960s, the studio has grown into one of the most recognizable games in the industry with tons of beloved franchises. From video games like Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill to the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, Konami has produced a plethora of fan-favorite properties. Now, the developer is creating a new branch focused around one of its main staples.
While many fans will know Konami's home console video games, the studio also has a vibrant history of arcade games. Konami's arcade lineup includes plenty of staples from the 1970s and 1980s, including well-known games like Gradius, Frogger, and TwinBee. Several of Konami's home console franchises like Castlevania and Contra have also made the transition to arcade cabinets, as well as adaptations of well-known television and movie franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Goonies. A new report now reveals that Konami's arcade games are getting their own focused branch.
