As one of the main parts of the Doom Slayer's arsenal in The Dark Ages, the Shield Saw can be used for more than just parrying projectiles. The Shield Saw can be thrown around to tear through fodder demons and attach itself to certain walls, which allows the Doom Slayer to jump across large gaps. The Shield Saw can be further augmented via Shield Runes, which grant the Doom Slayer some additional firepower in his arsenal. After gaining the Ground Fissure Shield Rune in Chapter 9, three more runes are added up to Chapter 14. Both the Shield Saw and Shield Runes can be augmented via Gold and other collectibles scattered throughout The Dark Ages' levels.
