"People Have Very Unrealistic Expectations": Devs Speak On Gamers' Biggest Misconceptions

Gaming, like life, is chock-full of misconceptions. Whether that be how long it takes to develop a game or just how impactful something as seemingly innocuous as a review bomb can be.

It feels good to see a game like Expedition 33 succeed.

In speaking with GamesRadar for a larger project, over 30 game developers helped put to bed some of the biggest misconceptions in gaming, from the development process itself to content rollout. The end result is an in-depth look at how grueling and often unforgiving the game development process is.

As part of a discussion of the human element of game development, Palworld publishing manager John Buckley said that "people have very unrealistic expectations of timelines." Specifically, that not every game can push content like Fortnite or Call of Duty on a seeming never-ending basis.
