Square Enix has released details on how the Marketplace, cosmetics, and more will work in Marvel's Avengers

On the Marvel's Avengers website, Square Enix released some details about the upcoming game. They revealed that all future updates, which will include new characters, story content, missions, and regions, will be free for all players. This is being done to prevent content gating and guaranteeing that all players can play the additions together. It was also revealed that the only purchasable content will be aesthetic-only. This includes outfits, emotes, and such. Cosmetics in Marvel's Avengers will come in four varieties: outfits, emotes, takedowns, and nameplates. There will be a number of ways to earn these cosmetics.

Marvel's Avengers will feature in-game vendors, which are store operators that can be found in multiple locations around the game's world. Players will be able to buy cosmetics, gear, and rare resources from them in exchange for units and common resources. Resources come in a variety of rarities. Players will be able to earn common, rare, and exotic resources, which can be traded or used to upgrade gear. Resources can be found in resource crates, as drops from enemies, by dismantling Artifacts, received as Faction assignment rewards, and through Hero Challenge Cards. Players can also obtain patterns, which can be used at fabrication machines to create outfits and nameplates. Gamers will also be able to use units, the game's currency, to purchase goods from vendors. This includes cosmetic vendors, who sell emotes, outfits, and nameplates. The items that cosmetic vendors have will rotate on a regular basis.

Marvel's Avengers will also feature a Marketplace where players can purchase items such as outfits, emotes, and more. The Marketplace's stock will rotate on a regular basis. Unlike vendors, players have to spend credits at the Marketplace. Credits are an in-game currency that can be purchased with real money.

Finally, Square Enix gave details on Hero Challenge Cards. Hero Challenge Cards allow players to earn resources, units, credits, and cosmetics for completing in-game challenges. Each Hero Challenge Card will feature 40 tiers of free and premium rewards that are earned by completing daily and weekly challenges. Rewards include units, credits, outfits, takedowns, and more.

Marvel's Avengers will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on September 4. The game will come to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
