Steam has received a new Vampire Survivors-like game called Bioprototype, which is available for free for a limited time. The Steam title is the latest to have gameplay aspects similar to those of Vampire Survivors, with some other notable games on the list being Brotato and Enter the Gungeon.
Although not the first game of its kind, Vampire Survivors is often credited for helping to popularize the bullet heaven genre in the gaming community. The indie title, originally built as a solo project by Poncle, has attracted hordes of players since 2022 and has reached over 77K peak concurrent players on Steam at the height of its popularity. Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive engagement received by the game, a number of other developers have tried their hand in the same genre over the past few years, with releases such as 20 Minutes Till Dawn achieving reasonable success. Most recently, Vampire Survivors-like mechanics appeared in a game called Bioprototype, which recently came out on PC two years after first landing on Switch in 2023.
Dungeons and Drivers blends the bullet-hell gameplay of Vampire Survivors with the class system and dungeon exploration of Dungeons and Dragons.
