The Splitgate 2 open beta is finally live again, but with some important caveats. Developer 1047 Games faced major difficulties with Splitgate 2's highly anticipated open beta launch earlier this week and took it offline for a few days to address the issues. Now, players should be able to log on and start finding matches, albeit in smaller numbers than expected.
Splitgate 2 was announced in July 2024 as the sequel to the beloved 2019 PvP arena shooter Splitgate. Much like its predecessor, Splitgate 2's first-person shooter gameplay throws portals into the mix for a unique and frenetic brand of map traversal. To keep things fresh, though, the sequel adds new maps, weapons, game modes, and more. Notably, Splitgate 2 also features three unique factions that bestow certain powers and items upon players to accommodate a bevy of playstyles. While everything about Splitgate 2 sounds like a recipe for success, the game's open beta had a bit of a stumble.
