A new competitive Mario game is on the way.

Today Nintendo announced Super Mario Bros. 35, a battle royale sort of game based off of the original Super Mario title. `In a round of Super Mario Bros. 35, players will all play a stage from the original game, and compete to be either the last Mario standing or running. Players will be able to utilize power-ups, which should help them get a boost over their opponents. They can also choose one of four strategies with the right analog stick: Lowest Time, Most Coins Attackers, or Random.

Super Mario Bros. 35's player interface is very similar to Tetris 99. Players will see themselves in the middle of the screen, and see all of their opponents on both sides of the screen. Enemies that players defeat in their run will be sent over to another player's game, though this also works vice versa. The game will release on October 1st, and will be available for six months. The game will be exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Super Mario Bros. 35 was announced today during a special Mario based Nintendo Direct that aired today. A number of Mario titles were confirmed to be on the way. This includes Super Mario All-Stars, which dropped for Nintendo Switch Online members today. A special Mario themed Game & Watch was revealed, and will include Super Mario Bros. and  Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Super Mario 3D All-Stars was also announced today, and will include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Like Super Mario Bros. 35, Super Mario 3D All-Stars will only be available for a short amount of time.

Super Mario Bros. 35 will release for the Nintendo Switch on October 1st, and will only be available until March 31st 2021.
