A new character has been revealed for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, as well as information on a demo for the game.
Toys for Bob has revealed another playable character for It's About Time: Tawna. Tawna only appeared in the first Crash Bandicoot, and served the role of the damsel in distress. However, the Tawna appearing in It's About Time will be from an alternate universe, where she is a hero in her own right. This version of Tawna is a strong, dynamic, fierce and aspirational character. Toys for Bob gave Tawna a look that would match her personality in It's About Time. She sports a spiked leather jacket, a punky, half-shaven, blue-dyed hairstyle, and bright pink leg warmers, all meant to show that she is a woman who walks to the beat of her own drum.
Toys for Bob's art director Josh Nadelberg stated that while the developer is super excited about Tawna's new look and the pivotal role that she plays in the game's story, they have also designed a new playstyle and move set for her. Each of the three new playable characters in It's About Time has a unique way to interact and move around the world, and Tawna is no different. Tawna is equipped with a hook-shot that allows her to quickly traverse levels, attack enemies, and break crates from a distance. She also sports a ground-pound attack, spin kicks, and an acrobatic wall jump. According to Nadelberg, Tawna is fast and fluid, but retains the precision and intensity that one can expect from a Crash Bandicoot tile.
It has been announced that those who pre-order Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time digitally will gain access to a demo of the game. The demo will drop on September 16th. In the demo, players will have access to two levels: Snow Way Out and Dino Dash. Players will also be able to play as Dr. Neo Cortex in an alternate timeline of Snow Way Out.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2nd.
