The wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong isn't over yet, but new gameplay footage gives fans something to hold them over until more information is revealed. The title was originally intended to be a DLC but has evolved into a much larger project, as developer Team Cherry chose to expand it into a full game. Silksong was announced in 2019 with a planned 2023 release, but was delayed, followed by a prolonged silence from the studio.
After many years in development and practically no updates, fans will finally be able to get their hands on the most wishlisted game on Steam this year. Although today's Xbox Games Showcase didn't reveal any new information about the game's release date, the stream did feature about half a minute of new footage from Silksong, shown off sneakily as part of the Xbox handheld device announcement.
Although there's no release date for Silksong yet, Team Cherry's marketing manager, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, has assured fans via the official Hollow Knight Discord that the game will be arriving "BEFORE Holiday" and that "we are not tied to a console release." This indicates that Silksong will be hitting stores before the release of the Xbox ROG Ally.
