As we’ve noted on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, while it’s easy to be excited for the upcoming Legend of Zelda Movie, there’s also a lot of trepidation around it. After all, this is VERY different than Nintendo and Illumination making an animated film about Mario. This is taking the land of Hyrule and bringing it into live-action, which is something that no one has ever done outside of fan-made videos and trailers. The movie was slated to arrive in March 2027. However, Shigeru Miyamoto went onto Nintendo’s official Twitter handle to reveal the following:
So, yeah, the movie has been pushed back a bit. Not a lot, but a good chunk. The irony here is that this not only gives them more time to work on the movie, but it frees them up from colliding with two other big films that were coming out in March 2027. Specifically, Sonic The Hedgehog 4 and the next Godzilla/Kong movie were set for that month, too. So now, those two can duke it out, and The Legend of Zelda Movie can, hopefully, make a bigger impact later on.
