While Infinity Nikki has taken a heavy blow to its reputation with the disastrous launch of Version 1.5, Infold appears to have taken a step back to reassess its direction for the dress-up gacha. Version 1.6 was delayed for a week, and rumors imply that a brand-new zone was cut from Version 1.8 in favor of focusing on the game's current and upcoming features.
The game established a strong identity when it launched in December 2024, but many players argue that Infold misunderstood what Infinity Nikki's biggest strengths were, culminating in the release of the Sea of Stars – the most controversial zone in the game. Version 1.5 was an extremely ambitious Infinity Nikki update: it added co-op, dyes, custom ability outfits, and a storyline that meaningfully develops the lore of the Pieceys. Unfortunately, only half of these highlights were met with praise from the community, and due to a myriad of technical issues plaguing all platforms, the overall impression of Version 1.5 skewed negative.
