On June 10, Nintendo said that the newly released Switch 2 had set the company's record for the fastest-selling console, with over 3.5 million units sold in four days. Nintendo stated that the hardware improvements of the Switch 2 over its predecessor, alongside the inclusion of Mario Kart World as one of the launch bundles, were both factors in driving up the console's sales.

The Switch 2's launch on June 5 came after weeks of chaotic pre-order windows and efforts from both Nintendo and its retail partners to deter scalpers and ensure enough stock. Although the Switch 2 is larger than the original Switch console, the hardware differences between the two Nintendo systems are more apparent. With an upgraded Nvidia processor and support for DLSS upscaling technology, the Switch 2 can also enhance the performance and graphical quality of original Switch games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Super Mario Odyssey via free updates that are currently available to download.
