Not Even Morbid Curiosity Is Enough To Boost MindsEye's Player Count

MindsEye's launch is not going very well at all, that much is clear. Many players are after refunds, as everything from the game's performance to its story has proven to be a disappointment.

Now, MindsEye is showing us that not all publicity is good publicity. While it might be the most talked-about game in the industry, that isn't translating into players, as its concurrent player count on Steam fell to just 260 over the weekend - its worst performance since launch.

Typically, we'd expect the Saturday or Sunday after a game's launch to be its busiest day yet, perhaps setting the concurrent player count record for years to come. That very much isn't the case with MindsEye, which peaked at 3,302 concurrent players on launch day but has gone on to lose players ever since. Its highest concurrent player count in the past 24 hours was just 517.

It isn't faring much better going into Sunday, as it sits at 395 concurrent players as of the time of writing. Of course, MindsEye also launched PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the Steam stats give us a rough idea of how large the playerbase is.
