FBC: Firebreak launched today across its various platforms, and player reviews are rolling in. "The game has potential," one user writes, "but... right now it gives vibes of midway through early access."
Despite how bad it looks, it's not all bad for Remedy Entertainment. Did they just spend a ton of hours working on a game, hoping for it to do well? Sure. Are players upset at what they're getting? ...yes, but there is at least a silver lining.
All the main problems listed in the game's 'mostly negative' Steam reviews are, at least, solvable problems. This isn't a situation where a game is fundamentally broken and people have to start over.
The lack of available content seems to be the main sticking point for players, with remarks appearing in most of the negative reviews. According to one player, there's "not that much content for an apparent '1.0 Release'. It's fun, especially using the pogo. But I think the game needs a lot more content."
Compounding this is the game's price point - a factor that likely makes the game feel like a worse deal on PC. Console players can get the game through Playstation Plus and Xbox Game Pass....
