Details for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta periods have been released.

The beta for Black Ops Cold War will be spread out over two weekends. Each weekend will last four days, with both play periods beginning on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. PST, and ending on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. PST.

The first beta weekend for Black Ops Cold War will begin October 8th and will run until October 12th. This weekend will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 players. Those who have pre-ordered the game on the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 will gain early access to the beta weekend, and can begin playing on October 8th and October 9th. The rest of the first beta period will be available for all PlayStation 4 owners.

The second beta weekend for Black Ops Cold War is scheduled to run from Thursday, October 15th through Monday, October 19th. The beta will be open to all platforms, and will feature cross-play, letting gamers play each other regardless of which platform they play the beta on. Those who have pre-ordered the game on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X / S can begin playing the beta on Thursday October 15th and Friday, October 16th. The remainder of the beta, from Saturday, October 17th to Monday October 19th, will be open to everyone.

The Black Ops Cold War beta will feature a mix of maps, modes, and playlists for players to get their hands on. This includes traditional 6v6 modes and the brand new 40-player mode, Fireteam: Dirty Bomb. The beta will feature a progression system where gamers can earn XP in order to unlock new content for their loadouts. This includes weapons, equipment, Create-a-Class slots, and Scorestreaks. Those who reach level 10 in the beta will receive the Mutual Animosity Weapon Blueprint when Black Ops Cold War releases.

It was stated on the Call of Duty Blog that players should expect frequent updates and surprises to take place within the beta both weekends.

Prior to each beta weekend, gamers will be able to pre-load the beta. For the first weekend, PlayStation 4 owners can begin pre-loading today. Xbox and PC players can start pre-loading the beta for the second weekend on October 13th at 8:00 a.m. PST.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S on November 13th.
