Steam users have until July 17 to claim Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, a turn-based tactical space battle simulator, for free. Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is based on the sci-fi franchise of the same name, created by Glen A. Larson in 1978.

Steam recently gave away the MMORPG Black Desert for free, even though the game frequently appears in similar promotions across various platforms. Before that, the Valve-backed store also offered the award-winning game Tell Me Why, which has been made free on Steam multiple times, usually around Pride Month to celebrate the occasion.

Space strategy games have always been popular, including both grand strategy and real-time strategy games.

Steam's latest free game is Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, a well-received spaceship management simulation from 2017. Developed by Black Lab Games, the real-time strategy title is free to keep on Steam until July 17. In terms of gameplay, it puts players in the role of a spaceship captain, commanding fleets in the massive space conflict known as the First Cylon War. Battlestar Galactica Deadlock features a 3D tactical approach, allowing players to micromanage every ship movement and make critical, quick decisions like a grandmaster chess player.
