A few changes are made to Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO

On the Pokémon GO blog, a few changes for how Mega Evolutions will work in the game were announced. The amount of time that a Pokémon will stay in its Mega Evolved form has been increased from four hours to eight hours. The cap for the amount of Mega Energy that a player can have has been increased from 999 to 2,000. This new limit applies to each individual type of Mega Energy that a player may have, and not the total amount of Mega Energy that they may have across Pokémon species. The two new updates were made just in time for this month's Community day, which will take place tomorrow.

October's Community Day will take place tomorrow, October 17th. It will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The featured Pokémon this month is Charmander. During the day, Charmander will appear more frequently in the wild, with the chance of running into a Shiny one. Those who evolve a Charmeleon during the event or up to two hours after will receive a Charizard that knows the attack Dragon Breath. There will also be event-exclusive Timed Research and Field Research tasks that will reward the player with Charizard Mega Energy. For $1, players will gain access to the October Community Day-exclusive Special research story, A Tale of Tails. Rewards for completing this special story will include Mega Energy for Charizard.

It has been announced that another special event for Pokémon GO will take place in October. The Catch Mastery: Ghost event will take place on October 25th, and will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time. During the event, Drifloon will appear more often in the wild, with there being a chance of running into a shiny one. There will also be an exclusive Timed Research that will only be available during this event. There will also be event-exclusive Field Research tasks to encounter Ghost-type Pokémon, and give players the chance to earn Gengar Mega Energy. During the event, gamers will be able to earn additional XP whenever they catch a Pokémon with Nice, Great, Excellent, and Curveball throws.

Pokémon GO is available now for mobile devices.
