Sucker Punch Productions Creative Director Nate Fox is hoping to revisit the Infamous series. While the industry veteran has not committed to any concrete plans, he suggested that were Sucker Punch to go back to Infamous after wrapping up work on Ghost of Yotei, re-releases are more likely than a new original entry—at least initially.

Started in 2009, the Infamous franchise was Sucker Punch's take on the superhero genre, offering open-world gameplay combining hectic combat, selective environmental destruction, and moral choices. Apart from the three mainline games, the Bellevue, Washington-based developer also released two standalone expansions for Infamous 2 and Infamous Second Son, subtitled Festival of Blood and First Light, respectively. The latter hit the market in August 2014 and was the last piece of Infamous media to date. VGChartz estimates that Second Son and the original Infamous sold around 7.3 million copies combined, with the overall franchise sales possibly already clearing the 10 million mark.

Sony's Infamous franchise has been off the market for over a decade, but the PlayStation 5 is the perfect platform for bringing the series back.

While the Infamous series has been dormant for over a decade, it's not necessarily gone forever....
