Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ramps up the difficulty gradually if you're staying on the main path. However, if you decide to explore a bit more, you'll come across enemies who'll gommage you before Maell can yell "Parry it!" Whether it's Simon or the titular Clair and Obscur, there are plenty of tough bosses to fight. But the game's hardest obstacle is not an enemy at all, it's math.

At two separate points in the game, you'll have conversations about the gommage and when it's time for certain characters to turn into petals – the first is between Gustave and Maell, while the second is with a young Gestral.
