FC26 Is Finally Sparing Career Players From FUT Nonsense

The FC26 gameplay update showcase is up, and while there is a lot to digest, the real kicker in this writer's very biased opinion is that Career Mode players can finally enjoy life away from the shackles of Ultimate Team. Ever since EA introduced Ultimate Team to The Game Formerly Known As FIFA, the franchise's gameplay has been caught in a tug of war between two equally passionate parties.

On one side, you had players who main Career Mode, living out their management fantasies without the spreadsheet bonanza that is Football Manager. Fighting against them (and winning for the most part) were the Ultimate Team gang, dwarfing Career Mode players in both numbers and revenue.

The conflict was the source of plenty of enmity between the two factions and had a negative effect on the game as a whole since EA Sports had to balance out completely opposite views of what a football game should be.
