After months of speculation following a data mine, Riot Games has revealed that WASD controls are coming to League of Legends.
Riot announced the upcoming feature in a developer log. The control scheme will be available on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) for multiple patches, so the team can monitor the balance between the new control scheme and traditional controls.
"We've seen that for new players, WASD is the most familiar control scheme for PC games today, and let's be real, a lot of us instinctively put our fingers there when coming back to League after playing something else," the announcement begins.
I'll be using my curmudgeonly veteran player pass here to say I've never once put my fingers on WASD when playing League.
"By offering WASD as an alternate control scheme, we believe League will feel more intuitive to some players who come from other games," the post continues. "This means if you're looking for a new way to play, new to League, or even inviting a friend to pick up League, it should be easier for everyone to jump in and get into what makes League awesome."
To a non-player, this feature may appear to have no downsides....
