Battlefield 6 is off to a flyer, with the open beta peaking at over 520,000 players on Steam alone. The upcoming instalment in the legendary series has players hearkening back to the Battlefield 3/4 era, which many modern fans consider to be the peak of the series.

The beta hasn't been immune to criticism, however. There are already cheaters, for one. The beta's map rotation didn't feature any large maps, so it was difficult for players to experience that classic Battlefield 'feeling'. Players are also having trouble wrangling the game's unwieldy aircraft.

There are also a couple of missing features that fans were desperately hoping would return. Chief among these requests is the server browser, which used to be a mainstay of the series before being removed in Battlefield 2042. In fact, the existence of private servers has essentially kept older titles alive, such as Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4, which still have small but dedicated player bases that play on rented servers.
