Chinese Soulslike Black Myth: Wukong is on its way to Xbox consoles next week, and it's bringing 81 achievements along with it. Black Myth: Wukong was initially released last August as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive and went on to become nominated for Game of the Year at the 2024 Game Awards, ultimately losing out to PlayStation's own beloved Astro Bot. Still, Black Myth: Wukong is regarded as one of the very best non-FromSoftware Soulslikes and has sold upwards of 25 million lifetime units so far.
There had been a ton of controversy surrounding Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox release announcement earlier this year, with many gamers believing that developer Game Science struck a one-year exclusivity deal with PlayStation seeing that the game is coming to Xbox on the exact date it initially launched on PS5. Game Science later came out to explain that the Xbox version of the game simply needed more development time, and that the date August 20 holds significance to the studio, as much of Black Myth's announcement and promotional materials went live on or around that date in years prior.
