Dead Cells, the 2018 Game of the Year-winning roguelite action game, is getting yet more DLC in the form of Fatal Falls, arriving early in 2021. The DLC will bring about the twenty-second major update to the game since it arrived over two years ago.
Fatal Falls will launch at $4.99, making it the second paid DLC in the game's long-tailed lifespan. You can check out a trailer for the new content below.
The DLC introduces two brand-new biomes, The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores. Alongside the new locales to explore, players can also expect to take on new enemies and discover new weapons, of which details are said to be coming soon.
On the heels of the DLC reveal also comes the team's proud announcement that two years after launch, Dead Cells will end 2020 with over 3.5 million copies sold since launch. The game started in early access on Steam in 2017 before taking over the video game zeitgeist for a good while two years ago. If you missed it, think of it as the Hades of 2018. It's the trendy indie you simply have to check out, so says the internet.
To its credit, the game scored very well with reviewers. It boasts a nearly unanimous 96% recommendation score, with an average review score of 89, making it one of the best-reviewed games of 2018. The first DLC, The Bad Seed, didn't meet our minimum number of reviews for an aggregate score, but every one of the small handful on OpenCritic is highly favorable of the expansion.
Dead Cells Fatal Falls DLC will arrive in Q1 2021 on all platforms where Dead Cells is available.
