Ahead of its official release later this year, Pokemon Legends: Z-A has an official demo that has been made playable to the lucky — and we mean extremely lucky — individuals that are attending this weekend's 2025 Pokemon World Championships in Anaheim, California, as well as those who will be at next week's gamescom 2025.
From those who've played the demo, we've seen some complaints about the size of the map that is Lumiose City, as well as news of the return of a critical and divisive in-game mechanic that hasn't been seen in 15 years. Now, we're hearing the game being compared to a rather unique title — Dark Souls.
As first shared on Twitter by Pokemon content creator Etchy, who had a chance to go hands-on with the playable demo, they were reportedly told by Nintendo staff that the game is sort of like Dark Souls, due to its similar combat mechanics.
Honestly, if you look at footage from the demo, you can see why that comparison was made, particularly as dodging and quick thinking seems to be a necessary function.
