According to Capcom, one of 2025's best-selling new AAA games, Monster Hunter Wilds, failed to reach the internal sales expectations the publisher had set for the title. This week, Monster Hunter's Ryozo Tsujimoto recently appeared on the Gamescom Opening Night Live stage alongside Final Fantasy's Yoshi-P to unveil an exciting new Final Fantasy 14 crossover coming to Monster Hunter Wilds. The crossover is bringing rideable Chocobo and other familiar Final Fantasy creatures like the iconic Cactaurs into Monster Hunter Wilds as part of Title Update 3 next month.

Monster Hunter Wilds was one of the earlier AAA games to come out this year, and when it did, it broke Capcom's launch sales record. Over 10 million copies of Monster Hunter Wilds were sold in its first month, with 8 million of those sales occurring in the game's opening three days. In the months following, Monster Hunter Wilds remained in the number one spot on the charts above other major releases like Assassin's Creed Shadows, Split Fiction, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, until Assassin's Creed Shadows overtook it just recently.
