Pokemon Go revealed this week that it will roll out a level cap increase later this year, upping the max from 50 to 80. You'd think that would be cause for celebration, and for those who have already hit level 50, it is. However, the new system has left those still grinding for it, who assumed they had more time, feeling deflated as the rewards they've been working towards are all about to disappear.
Niantic confirmed that Pokemon Go's level cap will be increased from 50 to 80 on October 15, 2025. However, considering the sheer amount of XP you need to level up when it comes to Go's higher levels, it won't simply be a case of requiring even more XP to get to the game's 30 new levels.
To ensure Pokemon Go's new levels don't require an impossible amount of XP to reach them, Niantic will introduce a whole new XP curve on October 15 to balance what will go from a 50-level game to an 80-level game.
