PlayStation finally caved last month, following in Xbox and Nintendo's footsteps and increasing the MSRP of its current-gen consoles. Apparently, it's fearful that it might have to raise those prices even more, and to avoid that, evidence has surfaced suggesting the PS5 slim's SSD will be reduced in size, but its price will remain the same.
This new detail comes from dealabs, which, as far as I'm aware, has a perfect record when it comes to leaks and sharing information ahead of official confirmation, particularly when it comes to PlayStation. The new report details a future PS5 model that will reportedly be available to buy in Europe from September 13, 2025. That model will be equipped with an 825GB SSD as opposed to the 1TB standard that comes with current PS5 slim models.
The standard edition of the slim PS5 appears to be unaffected and will still have a 1TB SSD.
