The MindsEye Launch Was So Bad It Traumatized Its Publisher

IO Interactive has been in business for over twenty years, primiarly focusing on the development side of things. They're best known for their work on the Hitman series, which has been published over the years by several companies: Eidos Interactive, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and Square Enix.

For 2021's Hitman 3, they self-published the game and will follow a similar road with 2026's 007 First Light, as well as their upcoming "Project Fantasy" game.

When it comes to publishing games from other developers, though, that's something they've done only once. However, they didn't really choose the best of options, as it was the infamous flop MindsEye from Build A Rocket Boy.

It's a launch so bad that now IO is possibly swearing off publishing games from external developers ever again.
