It has been announced that Mass Effect Legendary Collection will release this spring.
BioWare has finally announced Mass Effect Legendary Collection. The Collection will release on May 14th. It will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will include Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. The Collection will be playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility. It will include all the DLC released for all three games, including the story expansions. The games will be playable in 4K, and will feature enhanced character models, high-resolution textures, new lighting, and more. A new trailer was released for the Collection, and can be seen here.
"It's been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original," stated Mac Walters, director of Mass Effect Legendary Collection (via GameSpot). "Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there's over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard."
It has been confirmed that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include the third game's additional fourth ending that was found in the Extended Cut. Talking to IGN, Walters explained that he wants to include as much of the original trilogy's DLC as possible, including the additional ending.
"For the people who had an extended cut, that became the experience for them, and so that will be the experience for everyone who is playing the Legendary Edition as well," Walters stated. "And ultimately... you finish a game and there are things you wish you had been able to do or things you want to add on, and to me that Extended Cut was that opportunity to add a little bit more love and a little bit more context around the ending. So to me that is part of the canon."
Mass Effect Legendary Collection will release on May 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
