Silksong's Enemies Are Formidable So The "Skillful" Hornet Has A Challenge, Team Cherry Explains

Having trouble with Hollow Knight: Silksong? You're far from alone. Before release, people were clamoring for a chance to beat it. And afterward, they're still doing that.

There are many reasons for this. And one of them, according to Team Cherry, is that Hornet is better than you. If you can't beat a challenge befitting this 'skillful' warrior, then that's a you problem.

At Melbourne's ACMI Game Worlds exhibition, Dexerto picked up a book - one where Team Cherry's devs spoke to the event's co-curator about several facets of Silksong's design. Game difficulty chief among them.

“Silksong has some moments of steep difficulty," the curator wrote, illustrating some key takeaways of the discussion. "But part of allowing a higher level of freedom within the world means that you have choices all the time about where you’re going and what you’re doing.”

When it comes to boss difficulty, the sentiment shared was that it's "fine" for things to be especially tough in the context of Silksong. Players have "ways to mitigate the difficulty via exploration, or learning, or even circumventing the challenge entirely, rather than getting stonewalled.”
