While Nintendo And Palworld Duke It Out, Completely Unrelated Modders Might Have Just Been Caught In The Crossfire

Palworld developer Pocketpair's legal woes continue, as it defends itself in a lawsuit brought on by Nintendo. This is over Palworld's similarities to the Pokemon games, with Nintendo taking specific issue with the monster capture mechanics and the ability to ride the monsters you catch.

As we've covered previously, Pocketpair has argued that Nintendo's patent on monster-capturing devices should never have been granted, because other games have employed similar mechanics without issue in the past. It named a few games in its response, but it also listed mods; one for Dark Souls 3 and another for Fallout 4. In response to this, Nintendo argues that mods are not games, and there are fears that this could set a dangerous precedent for mods.
