Borderlands 4 did stick to its promise of having less slapstick humour. While the writing is much better, the game unfortunately struggles with other things, like performance issues and bugs that make bosses despawn. While the devs are probably busy working on this, Randy Pitchford has told fans to refund the game if they're not happy with it.
Despite all this, the game is doing pretty well in terms of reviews and fan appreciation. One of the biggest reasons for this is probably the open world system that Gearbox had adopted. While it keeps the action flowing and gets rid of loading screens, there is one thing that ruins this system – too many invisible walls.
With this new open world, you're free to explore every inch of Kairos. You can take shortcuts and plan your route too. However, the magic of this instantly wears off as soon as you hit your first invisible wall. It seems Kairos isn't as open as we thought, as Gearbox has made the world appear open, but contained it with quite a few invisible walls.
