Subnautica 2 Dev Releases First New Update In Two Months, But All The Comments Are About The $250 Million Legal Drama

Earlier this year, Subnautica 2 was delayed following the removal of co-creators Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire from the project.

Reports surfaced that the delay was made to avoid a $250 million bonus payout, which Krafton denied, claiming that it was to prevent "irreversible harm" to the series after the trio had "abandoned the responsibilities entrusted to them". The three co-founders rejected this claim and filed a lawsuit in response.

The series has been mired in controversy ever since, with fans threatening to boycott and review bomb the sequel in defence of Gill, Cleveland, and McGuire. Krafton and Unknown Worlds have remained tight-lipped about what progress is being made behind the scenes amid this drama, while also filing a lawsuit of their own against the trio for allegedly stealing game design files before being fired.

However, Unknown Worlds tried to cut through the drama yesterday with a progress update on the game's development.
