Borderlands 4 Tried To Take A Slightly More Serious Tone, But Meme Mods Are Starting To Arrive

If you’ve been playing Borderlands 4, you may have noticed that the writing and overall tone are more serious than the last few games in the series, but there are mods looking to change that.

That was a major goal of narrative director Sam Winkler with the new entry in the franchise, who, in his own words, stayed “firm in [his] criticism of BL3’s overabundance of toilet humor,” and that he’d “cry real tears” if the word skibidi appeared in the game.

He wanted the series to go back to taking itself a little more seriously, hearkening back to the early entries before it went all-in on that style of referential jokes.

However, it seems like some fans have taken that as a challenge, and now they’re making mods that bring back the meme references and toilet humor that Winkler is so opposed to.

Bringing Back The Cringe Humor

If just including the word “skibidi” in the script would make Sam Winkler cry, one mod in particular seems like it’s trying to outright ruin his day.
