Earlier this week, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead dropped a bit of a bombshell by revealing that there are currently no plans to ever make a third game in the series. Instead, Arrowhead revealed that it would like to keep supporting Helldivers 2 indefinitely, calling it a "forever game" and likening it to Runescape, which has been going for well over two decades.
On the surface, that sounds like a great thing, right? Your favorite game will be supported until it's no longer financially viable, and Arrowhead itself seems keen to do so for as long as possible. However, the general reaction from fans has been anything but positive, as many are finding the news that there are no plans for a third game extremely worrying.
