Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is fully voice-acted, in case you weren't aware. 2025's triumphant return to one of the franchise's most glorious installments breathes new life into its cool cast in this fashion - and since its 1997 inception, FFT has always touted the one and only Cloud Strife as a late-game optional side character.
In English, Cloud's VA for the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Cody Christian, has delivered the spiky-haired hero's Ivalician lines with aplomb. Alas, from a gameplay perspective, Cloud has always been distinctly lacking... but in designing The Ivalice Chronicles, Square Enix has worked hard to ensure he no longer, well, sucks.
Cloud Strife had a lot of problems in prior iterations of Final Fantasy Tactics. His Limit Breaks didn't translate well to the game's isometric strategy-RPG gameplay, as they'd take far too long to charge up, giving his intended targets ample time to simply stroll out of range. More baffling, Cloud could only use this special command after locating the one weapon in the game designed exclusively for him: the Materia Blade, which requires a character with the Treasure Hunter skill equipped to climb to the highest point...
