Metal Gear Solid 5 Fan Adds New Content And Mechanics To Celebrate The Game’s Anniversary

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the talk of the MGS town this year, as Konami's faithful remake has successfully brought the franchise back from the brink. It's been a full decade, though, since Metal Gear delivered its last new game. Er, not counting Survive. Let's not count Survive.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is one of the most divisive blockbuster releases in memory, with fans torn between its excellent emergent gameplay and a woefully unfinished story. While that latter bit is unlikely to ever change unless Konami decides to go for broke, one fan is proving it's possible to improve upon perceived perfection by taking MGSV's masterful mechanics to the next level.

To be sure, Metal Gear Solid V modders have been hard at work for years. Seldom does a new mod emerge, however, with such sweeping changes in mind. Dubbed 'The Definitive Subsistence Update', mohlalgear's big project includes quite a bit, including an optional download that ports over the hard mode functionality of The Phantom Pain's short prequel title, Ground Zeroes.
