Patent Info Suggests Nintendo Has Found Some Ingenious Ways To Make DS Games Work On NSO

Nintendo has always placed a lot of value on playing old games on new consoles, but when you go back more than one generation, things have often been spotty. From meager offerings to atrocious prices, Nintendo hasn't had the best relationship with this sort of thing.

But that spotty style is something they're always looking to improve. The recently-revealed Virtual Boy offerings showcase a new way to play some very old titles, and based on recent leaks, Nintendo DS games may be next on the list.

This information comes to us through Mike Odyssey, who had some patents to show off to the wider gaming world.

These patents show off three different ways the Switch 2 console would be able to handle the Nintendo DS's twin screens.

The first mode is a Dual-Screen mode, which implies that each image is simply displayed on a different physical screen. If this reminds you of a Wii U style of setup, that's because you're completely correct. The Wii U also saw DS games ported to the console (thanks, NintendoLife), so we're well within precedent here.
