Pokemon Legends: Z-A Players Are Disappointed That The New Battle System Has Completely Invalidated Certain Favourites

Pokemon Legends: Z-A's new battle system has been lauded as a giant leap forward for the series. Moving away from the traditional turn-based mechanics and into the world of real-time combat, battles are far more fast-paced and fluid than they've ever been. It felt like Legends: Arceus walked so Legends: Z-A could run.

But while the battle system has earned plenty of plaudits, there is a contingent of the long-standing Pokemon fan base that's a little unhappy with how things have turned out. The turn-based battles that they were used to opened up a world of possibilities for more tactical affairs, while Legends: Z-A ultimately favors bulkier Pokemon. This has left a range of the series' competitive staples in the dirt, completely useless in the game's current format.

Pokemon's competitive battling meta often contains Pokemon you might not expect. Pokemon like Cinccino, Azumarill, and Pachirisu have all had their time in the sun in the past, for a variety of reasons, but Legends: Z-A could be about to change that.
