Kong Orange, the indie team behind Felix The Reaper, is working on an ambitious follow-up, Vokabulantis. The stop-motion platformer is being developed in partnership with Wired Fly Animation studio and some early teases might blow your mind.

The behind-the-scenes video below captures some of the handcrafted miniatures made that will be transferred into Vokabulantis' platforming levels, which players can play solo or in co-op.

The team seems to have taken no shortcuts to achieving this aesthetic, revealing that "every character, prop, and environment has been painstakingly created by hand, animated one frame at a time using physical models."

A Kickstarter campaign for Vokabulantis remains ongoing with a deeper look at the game's immaculate world design. The crowdfunding effort will active for another two weeks, with the game about 75% of the way to its goal of $82K at time of writing this article.

The story focuses on deuteragonists Karla and Kurt who intend to reveal how they feel about each other when they are transported to a strange world where language is a puzzle. The game can be played with one player controlling both characters alternatingly or in local co-op.

Platforms have not been formally revealed but the team says it is targeting "all major platforms" with a release window planned for 2024, so it's still a ways off.
