While Battlefield 6 launched to great reviews and fan appreciation, it did have its fair share of issues. From maps being too small and aim being messed up to some brightly-coloured cosmetics, there was a lot of discourse which split the community. However, the season one update brought a whole wave of microtransactions that may have just united the community against EA.
EA has always had a bad reputation for its predatory monetization. From loot boxes in FIFA to skins in Battlefield, the publisher has never been shy to take your money. However, Battlefield 6 was supposed to be different; at least that's what we were told by the devs. Along with the new RedSec battle royale mode, players are getting microtransactions shoved in their faces.
After the season one update, players expected to find RedSec splattered all over the start menu. However, what they didn't expect was the sheer number of microtransactions being thrown their way. From weapon skins to costumes and even bland challenges, it seems Dice has transformed Battlefield 6 into a monetization machine.
As you'd expect, fans were all over Reddit, complaining about this wave of prompts and menus asking them to spend more money....
