Back before Battlefield 6 released, you could really feel the positivity surrounding the series, as players jumped into the game after being burned by Battlefield 2042, eager for a game to right the wrongs of the previous one. For the most part, it managed to succeed, as Battlefield 6 managed to break records and was touted as a true rival to Call of Duty. At one point, it even had Call of Duty sweating over its success, even though it claimed not to be worried.
Fast-forward to now, and there's a very different vibe to the entire game. Thanks to the launch of Season 1 and the game's new battle royale mode, RedSec, opinions on Battlefield 6 are starting to sour, whether it be the game's obnoxious reminders to buy the battle pass, or the multitude of skins that have been shown off recently that fans believe feel too goofy for the game's more grounded vibes. It's been a bit of a disaster for DICE, and one that has culminated in a minor review bombing.
