The Outer Worlds 2 is definitely a step up from the first title. Its RPG elements feel more meaningful and your choices feel like they actually matter. Much like a classic RPG, or even newer ones like Baldur's Gate 3, there are actually consequences you need to live with which span from story decisions to your skill points.
One of the decisions that the devs made to make your decisions and mistakes feel meaningful was to leave out the respec system. Most games allow you to rework your skill point distribution, but director Brandon Adler feels that living with your mistakes is a key element to the RPG genre, and many recent games have left it behind.
If you're not familiar with the game's systems, there's a chance you'll end up with a bad character build. With the lack of a respec system, Adler and team are more than happy to let you make mistakes. Many games tend to play it safe by letting you walk-back these choices, but not The Outer Worlds 2.
