Apparently, Some Of Silksong's Bosses Were Much More Difficult During The Playtesting Phase

Ever since Hollow Knight: Silksong launched in early September, it has sparked a heated discussion around accessibility and difficulty, especially since the massive hype around Team Cherry’s metroidvania drew in plenty of newcomers who had no idea what kind of challenge they were walking into.

In response, developers released a quick patch to make a few encounters more forgiving, and even the modding scene entered the scene with inventive ways to ease the players’ suffering with some punishing mechanics and bosses.

But here’s a twist that no one was expecting: what we eventually got in the final version of the game was actually a toned-down version. That’s right, turns out Team Cherry actually decided to spare us from true pain, and Silksong was originally even harder during playtesting.

Team Cherry’s Playtesters Faced A Much Tougher Silksong

Speaking recently at the Dan Allen Gaming Podcast, Matt Trobbiani, who lent his voice to the amazing Trobbio, revealed a few secrets regarding the game’s development.

What stood out the most was that he also worked as a playtester for Silksong and actually was one of the first people ever to finish the game and experience the True Ending.
