Animal Crossing Players Are Mourning The Loss Of Previous Zelda Villagers After The New Horizons Update Announcement

Yesterday, after years of being left in the cold and following Nintendo's promise that the game was finished, the company announced a massive new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Version 3.0 will feature new islands to shape and decorate, numerous new decorations and pieces of furniture, quality-of-life improvements, and collaborations with Lego, Splatoon, and, most excitingly, The Legend of Zelda.

The collaborations between Splatoon, Zelda, and New Horizons will enable a range of new visitors to become inhabitants of your islands, including two from both of the aforementioned series. Unfortunately, however, it appears that Nintendo has forgotten about some of its previous crossovers, and fans are a little upset.

The Animal Crossing series is no stranger to crossover villagers. New Horizons introduced a range of Sanrio characters a year after the game launched, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf featured four characters from The Legend of Zelda, and three from Splatoon, provided the required Amiibo were present.

From Zelda, players could bring Twilight Princess' Wolf Link, Wind Waker's Medli, and series staples Ganon and Epona to their islands. Splatoon featured villagers Cece, who was based on Callie, Viche, based on Marie, and Inkwell, an octopus inspired by the...
