What started out as a fun and unique way to blend fan-favorite IPs with online multiplayer games has morphed into one of gaming's most contentious topics — in-game skins. While the likes of Fortnite and Overwatch continue to tout collaborations, other titles, like Battlefield 6, have taken a stand against collaborations, largely in an effort to win back jaded players who believe they impact a game's aesthetic.
Consider Arc Raiders part of that latter group, as the recently released third-person extraction shooter has decided that goofy skins will not be part of the game's future.
In a new interview with PCGamesN, design director Virgil Watkins made it clear that Arc Raiders would not be going down the crossover route that so many other titles in its class have taken.
"What I believe to be true is that we will maintain the current aesthetic that we have," Watkins said. "It will fit within our sensibilities of how these things look and fit within the world and inside the fiction."
