In many RPGs, fashion is extremely important. Sure, I can become a walking tank capable of taking down anything that stands in my way, but if I don't look good while I'm saving the world, then it can burn. Thankfully, most RPG developers recognize this, and will stuff their games full to the brim with slick outfits that carry with them multiple different stat bonuses that you can mix and match to really nail down the character you want to be. Unfortunately, The Outer Worlds 2 is not one of those RPGs.
It's a game with a lot of choice, and a variety of different ways to tackle certain situations, but when it comes down to the gear you're wearing, you're going to have to settle for combat-focused stat bonuses regardless of your build. Personally, I feel like it's a lot more restrictive than the previous game, and it seems as though the wider Outer Worlds community is in agreement.
In a recent post on The Outer Worlds subreddit, a user called ChaseBank5 goes into detail about this exact problem, calling the game having no gear that increases less combat-focused stats like Speech, Sneak, or Science their "biggest gripe"...
