The Witcher's Writer Says CDPR Hasn't Asked For Much Input On The Witcher 4

On the one hand, duh, right? Of course Andrzej Sapkowski, the bestselling author behind The Witcher novels upon which the also-bestselling games are based, wouldn't be talking with CD Projekt Red a bunch about The Witcher 4. CDPR's installments all take place after Sapkowski's novels, which, in the writer's own view, have a definitive enough end point not to leave much room for continuation in the first place.

But it's a bit deeper than that. Sapkowski, after all, had been contacted sporadically by the developer as they mapped out the finer details behind Geralt's big video game trilogy. Is there even less for the games' writers to inquire about now, or are they all the more comfortable with their adaptation of the author's universe? Maybe it's a bit of both. Either way, it's only part of what makes this latest news worth consideration.

Time was, Andrzej Sapkowski wasn't a big fan of CD Projekt Red. Or perhaps it's more accurate to say that he wasn't a fan of his deal with the company, is all. In fact, he took them to court, settling a lawsuit with the Polish studio back in 2019 following allegations that he'd not been paid...
